Better for the Planet

Loose leaf tea has a much smaller eco-footprint than teabags. Unlike ‘bagged’ tea, loose leaf tea is sold by weight, easy to dispose of and biodegradable. It also requires minimal packaging, unlike bagged tea, which requires significant packaging resources and generates considerably more waste with its bags, boxes and plastic wrappers.

Better Flavour

Bagged tea is often made from loose leaf tea production’s tea dust or ‘fannings’, resulting in a brew that is much less flavourful.

Better Value

As loose leaf tea is sold by weight, only two to three grams are required for every cup, making it much more cost-effective than pre-packaged teabags.

  • I really love your point about loose leaf tea, having a smaller eco-footprint than tea bags. Since I don’t know much about it, it’s good to know it’s also biodegradable with little or no packaging. My husband and I love black tea and we are always talking about how much waste packaging is, I think we should make the switch sooner than later.
